FAQs

  • Where can I find a physical therapist?

As a patient, you have the right to receive physical therapy at any place you choose. Minnesota is a Direct Access State, which means you can see a physical therapist directly without getting a doctor’s referral first.

At Wellspring Health Center, you’ll have access to an integrative team of musculoskeletal specialists, working together in one convenient location.

We pride ourselves on providing a positive, encouraging environment with well-trained, friendly staff. We are confident in our ability to help you reach your goals and live a pain-free lifestyle.

  • What should I know about physical therapy?

Physical therapy is a natural, hands-on approach to relieving pain and restoring function. Physical therapy offers a proven, cost-effective, and safe way to manage back and body pain while reducing or avoiding the need for prescription pain medication. The Centers For Disease Control (CDC) recommends non-drug approaches to pain relief whenever possible. Choosing physical therapy for back and body pain instead of opioid drugs helps avoid risks like depression, overdose, and addiction.

Physical therapists are medical experts in musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and work closely with physicians. In addition, Wellspring utilizes an integrative holistic approach to evaluate and treat your pain condition, identify the root cause of your pain, and work to eliminate it naturally, avoiding the risks of prescription pain medications whenever possible.

While every patient’s condition and pain is unique, our physical therapist will use a variety of gentle hands-on techniques, exercises, and computer-precision technology to relieve pain quickly and restore your function to optimum levels.

The overall goal is to restore pain-free mobility and function and to prevent the injury or pain from recurring.

  • Do PT treatments hurt?

Physical therapy is not meant to hurt, but to relieve pain. However, as you restore your mobility, pain levels, at times can fluctuate. You might experience some temporary soreness from using muscles that are weakened or recovering.

This is a normal response to therapy treatment. Good communication with your therapist will help minimize any discomfort. Recovery from pain and fixing the root cause is a journey that most patients feel is worth some ups and downs.

  • Do you treat my condition at your clinic?

Our integrative team of medical and physical therapy specialists treat a wide range of musculoskeletal pain conditions. Their holistic approach helps patients avoid surgery and prescription drugs, maximize their mobility, recover from chronic pain conditions, and improve physical function.

Some common conditions they treat include back, neck, shoulder, hip, and knee pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, and migraines.

  • How long will my appointments take?

Typically, the first visit lasts for approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. Each session after that maybe 45-60 minutes. The amount of time will be based on your specific needs, and your therapist will discuss this with you.

  • Do I need to wear certain types of clothes for my appointments?

Dress comfortably in clothes that allow easy access for the therapist to examine your problem areas.

For treatments, loose-fitting clothes that are comfortable for gentle stretches and exercises are better than restrictive clothing.

  • Will my insurance cover my appointments?

Yes, in most cases insurance covers medical and physical therapy services. But some of these plans have limited coverage. Wellspring Health Center will be happy to assist in contacting your insurance company and determining your specific coverage based on your individual policy.

For more information, visit our insurance plan page, and please do not hesitate to contact our Eden Prairie, MN physical therapy office. We do offer affordable payment options for your convenience.

  • Will I start noticing relief right away?

Many patients do, while others may feel changes like soreness as their body begins to change. Each patient’s condition is unique, so together with our medical specialist, your physical therapist will develop a plan of care that is right for you.

Your care plan and the number of visits will be determined during your first and second visits and explained to you by our physical therapist.

  • What is the best payment method for my sessions?

We accept most insurance plans. But most patients will have an out-of-pocket amount due such as a deductible, co-pay, or co-insurance. And some services will not be covered by insurance and need to be paid for directly by the patient. We accept cash, checks, debit cards, and credit cards. We offer affordable payment plan options as well. Our policy is that payment is made at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made.

Your insurance benefits are usually verified on your first visit and are reviewed with you in detail before you have any billable services.

  • What should I do if I don’t have insurance?

For patients with high deductibles, limited coverage, or no coverage, we offer affordable options that will be reviewed with you on the day of your Complimentary Consultation.

  • I’m feeling better, but I still want to continue sessions – is that possible?

Yes, once you have completed your initial treatment plan, your therapist will review your options that may include wellness care like manual therapy and a home program.

  • I want to come prepared for my first appointment – what should I do?

Please have your insurance card available when you call us. This will allow us to verify your insurance benefits and have the details ready for review on your first visit.

To bring on your first visit:

    • Insurance information (we will make a copy of your card).
    • In most cases, a doctor’s referral for physical therapy isn’t needed since Wellspring has a medical specialist onsite to evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe your therapy. But if you have already obtained a physical therapy prescription from another medical physician, please bring it to your initial visit so we can incorporate it into your treatment plan and keep your physician updated on your progress.
    • In case of an automobile accident or worker’s compensation claim, also bring any case manager or insurance adjuster contact names, phone numbers, and claim number.
    • Print out the patient forms, fill them out, and bring them with you. If you are unable to do this, please allow for extra time to fill these out upon your arrival.
    • Please wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your problem areas.
    • Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete any remaining paperwork.
