Diy Liquid Laundry Detergent

Apr12th 2019

At Wellspring Health Center we wash loads and loads of massage sheets daily. We want our sheets to be super clean and free of irritants, and we want our laundry detergent to be earth-friendly since immediately after use, it goes down the drain and into our environment.

Here’s the current version of our DIY liquid laundry detergent.

DIY NATURAL LIQUID LAUNDRY DETERGENT (HE SAFE)

  • Pour into 1.5 Gallon Bucket
  • 1 Cup Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap (scented or unscented)
  • 1 Cup baking soda
  • 1/3 Cup coarse salt
  • Wisk the ingredients adding 1.5 Gallons warm water. Portion into containers (we use a funnel and pour into clean empty liquid laundry containers).

To use, add 1/4 – 1/2 cup per load (as you would typically use liquid detergent). Shake well before use.

Tip: We also pour 1/3 cup white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser as a safe and effective stain remover, deodorizer, and natural fabric softener. (Don’t worry, vinegar dries “clean” in that there is no vinegar scent left once the fabric is fully dry.)

Cost Breakdown:

  • 1c Castile Soap = $3.75 (based on Dr. Bronners $15/32oz)
  • 1c Baking Soda = $0.31
  • 1/3c Course Salt = $0.50
  • 1/3c White Vinegar= $.39

Total: $4.95 for about 50 loads!
